In 2006, Columbus lost a signature member of its arts & music community, Daymon Dodson. If you didn’t know him personally, you knew who he was; the life of the party, the man with the widest smile and biggest voice in the room. Since the best way to honor the loved ones we lose is to celebrate them, his friends joined together to give us Daymon Day: a grouping of events created to commemorate the friend they lost too soon.
The core of Daymon Day is a parade through Columbus (from Tuttle Park to the corner of 5th Ave & High Street in the Short North), bookended with a Jump Ramp Skate competition before and an after party at Café Bourbon Street/The Summit (2210 & 2216 Summit Street) which will feature DJ’s such as Pos 2, Lozone, Detox, Johnny Cashola, and CJ the DJ.
The organizers of this event invite and encourage you to attend Daymon Day whether or not you knew Daymon personally. “All these events serve to cultivate the types of friendships and creative collaborations that Daymon was so prolific in spurring. Daymon Day is September 15th, 2012. All are welcome.”
We hope to see you there to party like Daymon would want you to!
